Admissions at The Forest Sober Living
Finding a sober living home is a big decision.
At The Forest Sober Living, we make the admissions process simple and transparent from the first call to the day you move in. Our goal is to remove confusion, answer every question, and help you feel confident that you’re taking the right next step in recovery.
We know this moment can feel emotional and uncertain. That’s why our admissions team is here to guide you through each part of the process with honesty, compassion, and care.
The First Conversation
The process starts with a call to our admissions team, which gives us a chance to listen to your story and learn about your goals and the type of support you are looking for.
In this call, we will gather basic information about your background, recovery, and, if applicable, recent treatment history. We will also answer any preliminary questions about our homes, structure, routine, and expectations.
There is no pressure to decide on the first step. The goal is to determine whether The Forest is a good fit and whether we can offer you the right level of accountability and structure to support your growth.
Assessment and Pre-Admission
Once you are ready to move forward, we and our admissions team will quickly assess your recovery goals, recovery support, and personal considerations we should be aware of, such as work commitments, your transportation needs, or outpatient treatment.
We will use this assessment to determine the home placement that best aligns with where you are in the recovery process and offers opportunities for personal growth. We may also connect with clinical providers or family members, if applicable, to make your transition to sober living as seamless as possible.
If you are transitioning directly to sober living, we will coordinate with your care team to confirm your discharge date and proceed with your transition.
Orientation and Move-In
Once your admission is confirmed, we will work together to set a date and go over what to expect for the first day.
Each Forest home operates slightly differently, so your orientation is tailored to the home you’re staying in. When you first arrive, you get a chance to meet your house manager and other residents, go on a tour of the home, and learn about the house’s policies, schedules, expectations, and responsibilities. Orientation may also involve discussions about curfews, meeting attendance, household expectations, and individual goals. Every home at The Forest has its own flow and culture while establishing a foundation of structure, accountability, and support.
You’ll have space to get settled and start building a daily routine that supports your recovery.
Living with Structure and Support
When you’re comfortable, you’ll begin to establish a daily rhythm to help life feel steady again. Each home has a routine that supports accountability and independence, allowing you to feel supported and keep growing.
You’ll engage in regular household activities, such as chores, meetings, and goal-setting. Every home is completely drug- and alcohol-free, with curfews and drug testing to allow for a safe environment for everyone.
House managers and peer mentors are there when you need them – for support, a ride, or a conversation. We also help you stay connected to outpatient care, work, or school so that what you’re doing outside the home also supports your recovery.
Structure is what allows progress to be possible. And even after you’ve moved in, our admissions team is always available to ensure you are doing well and getting what you need.
Preparing for What Comes Next
Sober living is about helping you integrate yourself into your new, sober life and providing structure to support your new identity. As you live in The Forest, you will start to see authentic changes in how you engage in daily life and in your relationships with people around you.
When you are ready to embark on the next phase, we will help you prepare, whether you want to move into your own apartment, start a new job, or stay connected to the community of alumni who have also participated in the Forest program.
Before you leave, your team will work with you to formulate an aftercare plan that maintains support and connectedness. Recovery does not end at discharge. It becomes deeper and richer through the relationships and routines you have established during your stay.
What You’ll Need to Begin
To start the admissions process, all you need is a willingness to participate in a structured, sober environment. We’ll discuss basic requirements such as age, sobriety duration, and readiness for community living.
