The Forest Sober Living Homes Philadelphia PA
Why Choose The Forest for Sober Living in Berwyn?
Too often, women leave inpatient substance abuse or mental health treatment and return to households, relationships, and routines that don’t support their sobriety. These women may be under pressure to care for others before themselves, or may not have a space of their own with an absolute focus on their healing journey and growth.
The Forest exists to provide women with a safe, stress-free living environment filled with love and support. We built a women’s-only residence because we believe women deserve a recovery environment shaped around their needs, their pace, and their goals. Our Berwyn house is structured, with a curfew, drug testing, and daily and weekly expectations, but this structure is combined with a warm and welcoming environment. The residents develop trusting relationships with one another as they learn to trust themselves again.
What Residents and Families Can Expect:
Mentors With Personal Experience
Our live-in house managers share their experiences with residents, drawing on each manager’s own recovery journey. Along with our around-the-clock support team, our experienced managers are committed to providing a loving, supportive environment while offering the respect and challenge necessary for the women to continue learning to trust themselves.
A Home That Is Intentional
The Forest is an environment designed around your wellness, where private and shared bedrooms, fully equipped kitchens, living rooms, and outdoor spaces have been created to provide women with a safe, dignified, and comfortable environment, because the environment matters as much as the program.
Support Available From Start To Finish
Residents will receive transportation to 12-step meetings, group therapy, outpatient programs, and job sites. In addition, residents are provided with support in writing resumes, keeping a budget, and creating a schedule. We want you to focus on getting well — we’ll coordinate all other aspects of your recovery.
A Supportive Environment of Trust and Accountability
The Forest maintains a small living environment with space for 6 to 10 residents. Having fewer residents creates opportunities to build meaningful friendships, hold themselves and each other accountable, and have honest and authentic conversations with one another.
Our Services / Programming
We provide services and programs to meet women where they are and help them become independent. Each service addresses the multifaceted nature of recovery that includes: work, health, relationships, identity, and daily living.
Door-to-Door Transportation
We provide daily transportation for all residents to attend 12-step meetings, outpatient appointments, therapy, work, and perform errands. No resident ever has to choose between attending their recovery program and getting to where they need to go.
Meaningful 12-Step Engagement
Meeting attendance, sponsor relationships, and working through the major steps of recovery are central to residents’ lives in our homes. We create the environment for residents to authentically engage in their program while being surrounded by other women who are doing the same.
Real-World Life Skills
From planning and preparing meals to handling finances and creating schedules, residents have the opportunity to practice skills each day that will give them confidence and independence. These skills are not abstract lessons but rather habits that they will carry with them after leaving our home.
Professional Development Support
Our team helps residents with all aspects of their job search, including resume writing, interview preparation, and developing an individual long-term career plan. We offer each resident support and guidance throughout their educational and vocational training.
Daily Structure
Consistent routines such as wake-up times, household responsibilities, curfews, and regular drug and alcohol testing help residents to develop self-discipline while gaining back their self-respect.
Weekly House Meetings
This is the time for residents to come together as a community to share successes, work through challenges, set goals, and hold each other accountable. For many residents, these meetings are among the top highlights of their week.
Group Connection and Service
Activities and community service help residents develop social skills and find purpose outside of themselves. They receive the tools to establish positive relationships with other women, which ultimately support their recovery long after they leave The Forest.
Family Updates and Engagement
We offer optional progress updates and long-term planning conversations. Recovery changes family dynamics, and we help navigate that shift with care and intention.
Clinical Partnerships
We collaborate closely with outpatient addiction treatment providers, therapists, and other healthcare professionals in the area to ensure our residents receive the aftercare support they need.
Licenses & Certifications
The Forest’s Berwyn residence for women meets all applicable regulatory standards for sober living in Pennsylvania as defined by state and local regulations. We see compliance as a starting point for our residents and build well beyond it.
That means consistent safety protocols, staff who meet every required training and certification benchmark, transparent resident rights protections, ethical practices across every aspect of operations, and strong working relationships with clinical providers who share our standards for quality care.

Frequently Asked Questions About Sober Living Homes in Berwyn
Is The Forest in Berwyn women-only?
Yes, our Berwyn home is a women’s-only residence created to support the unique needs and experiences of female residents. The entire programming and community reflects a women-oriented focus.
How many women live at The Forest in Berwyn?
No more than 6 to 10 women live in the Berwyn residence at the same time. By having a smaller number of residents, we create a stronger bond between residents, enhance accountability, and provide an environment where no resident feels she gets lost.
What is the process to move into a sober house in Berwyn?
Our process begins with a private phone call to learn more about you, your specific recovery goals, and your support preferences. If we seem like we are a good fit, we will work to coordinate a residence tour or facilitate a move-in date that is mutually acceptable.
What does a typical day look like?
Residents will follow a structured schedule that includes set wake-up times, household responsibilities, attending a 12-step meeting, going to work or school, and participating in group or personal reflection. Residents will have set curfew times and will be tested regularly. The schedule is full and purposeful, and residents tell us the schedule has been one of the best support tools in their recovery.
What is the average length of stay?
The average length of stay is between 3 and 12 months. A longer stay will yield the strongest outcomes due to the time needed for the resident to develop new habits, deepen their recovery relationships, and provide a solid foundation to begin independent living.
Can my family be involved in my recovery while at The Forest in Berwyn?
Yes. While the resident is receiving support, we encourage family involvement. This can include progress updates, participating in planning conversations, and linking to community family resources. We work with each resident to determine which level and point in time are right for the family to become involved.
